Amidst the hustle and bustle of the season, we cherish some of the traditions we have created as a family. One of those is cutting down our own Christmas tree. We found a local farm and found a prefect tree for us. The owner was really kind and had made a "candy cane" tree for the kids to find. I think they had more fun searching for the candy canes hung on a little pine tree than actually cutting ours down, but it was a fun afternoon.
A few days later, we all enjoyed decorating our tree. The memories that all those ornaments bring to the front of our minds are dear to my heart.
Even with all the craziness, the children still find time to cause a little mischief!
Spidey, BluePony, and Elefly all participated in the Christmas musical at our church. Elefly, who had a drama role, got the stomach flu on Friday and had to miss dress rehearsal. Luckily she was okay and made it through the performance just fine. Above is the picture of Spidey in his angel costume. Below I addd a two pictures we took after the musical was over.
Unfortunately I missed getting pictures of baking cookies, but we had a few exciting hours decorating and making a complete mess of the kitchen. It is so wonderful to be able to watch the excitement on the faces of my kids. Together they met, pooled thier money and bought special gifts for each other. They have also been working together to go through an activity where they open a box and read scripture verses that pertain to the Christmas story. CutiePie loves playing with the little figures (especially baby Jesus). I am glad they understand why we celebrate this season.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Everyone looks wonderful - I love Spidey the angel! It's nice to have traditions to enjoy even in the midst of being in a new place - we miss you all!
