School Started

School has officially started! We actually started on Thursday of last week to give us a few days to adjust. I have already had to adjust our schedule and see what is and is not working. It will continue to be a work in progress for a few weeks. Hopefully then we will have a somewhat set schedule. Spidey wants to read and is starting to read a few very simple books. Elefly, who was always extremely quiet in public school is still quiet, but loves to share and ask questions. I feel this is great for her to actually share all that knowledge she has in that brain of hers. BluePony loves to learn, but has a short attention span. She catches on quickly, but would rather skip any extra writing. And CutiePie is very patient as I work with the older kids. She has her own books and is able to do many of the hands on games with Spidey. She loves learning to cut, paste and is getting good at recognizing numbers and shapes.

Since homeschooling requires me to teach multiple grades at the same time, I do have to make a few things so all the kids can learn together, just at their level. We all learn about the Bible, science and history together. We also go through calendar and silly opening songs together. Elefly and BluePony really don't need to do these activities, but they have been really good sports and participated willingly.

They are all so eager to learn. That fact energizes me and makes me want to let them soar with their learning. It is a blessing that I am able to stay home and teach them everyday.

"Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."
Ephesians 6:4

  1. Yeah! I am so excited for you and your kids. I am praying that school will continue to go well for you. We are listening to the CD's that came with our History curriculum. :) Miss you all!

  2. Whew. . .you have posted a lot since I last looked! The beach looks like so much fun (next year. . we're there!) Did you want any more pictures from our visit? There's just the one of you, the girls and Sweet Pea. Of our camping group, I'm the only one not homeschooling. . .I feel left out! Actually, I'm enjoying the first real "break" I've had in years. . .no running Car-man here and there, to that therapy and this therapy. . .just both boys to one school where I really feel they are in capable hands. I will take advantage of it while I can. ..every year will be different, I know! Love the "class picture" too - so sweet!
