Spring and Summer ... so far (2009)

We have been really busy since Spring. Here is a quick update of all we have been doing!

I'll start with our musical. The three oldest kids participated in the Spring musical at our church. They all enjoyed it and will participate again in the fall when I take over the drama part of choir. I am excited to work with and have a positive impact on the kids' lives.

Blue Pony also had a dance recital where she performed to the song, "Chihuahua". It was a cute dance. Then we made a trip to Ohio to visit with family. Here the Blue Pony is taking her turn driving her grandpa's lawn mower. (aren't there laws against child labor?...just kidding!)
At the end of the week, we had a wonderful Celebration service of my dad's life. It was nice to have closure and in a positive light. A dixieland style jazz band played as we marched around the cemetery led by many of my dad's former Boy Scouts. He would have loved it!

Afterwords, we went back to my mom's for a mini-family reunion. It was a lot of fun. Here are some of my crazier relatives!

We enjoyed Father's Day at home!

At then end of June, we had friends visit before moving to Idaho. We were sooooo glad they took the time to stay with us. It was a blast! Nine kids in one house and you would never have know it. We missed them the day they left.

Of course we had to go into DC for the 4th of July. This year we sat by the Capital Building and listened to the concert. We really enjoyed the music.

My mom came to visit and we took her to a nearby park where they were having a Civil War demonstration. we learned that this was where the Confederacy had their winter quarters. You could still see the stones left from where the chimneys of their huts once stood. We also saw pieces of whiskey bottles and shells the soldiers used. The kids got a lesson in musketry. They used the wooden muskets seen here. It was a great educational trip. The most recent thing we enjoyed was meeting friends in Shenandoah National Park for a picnic and hike. Yes, there is a sheer drop over the edge of the rocks! YIKES!! Cutie Pie aka "Little Legs" wanted to go where daddy went. She had no fear! It was a beautiful day!

Watch for more updates...eventually!

"I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber; "
Psalm 121:1-3
