Stone Mountain

In August, we traveled to Stone Mountain which is located in Atlanta, GA. We went for the purpose of saying a final farewell to my dad. My dad was born in Atlanta. He only lived there for about four years, but you would have thought it was most of his life.

Stone Mountain is a solid piece of granite with only about 10% exposed. My mom, my brother (the 3rd - or III), III's family, and brother Big J all met us there. It is about a mile hike up the mountain. You can also ride a tram to the top, but we had to hike it to say we did it. Not an easy hike, especially in 95+ degree weather! I'm sure dad was smiling down the whole time!Taking a break for a group picture!

Weary, hot travelers continuing while wondering,
"Why we are doing this in this heat?"
(Spidey on the left making it look easy!)

Once we got to the top, looked around, and cooled off a little, we each took the time scattering my dad's ashes. This was one of his final requests that we have known about for years. Now he is at peace and with the Lord!

Good bye, Dad! We love you and miss you!
