Beijing Day 2

Today was pretty relaxing. We exchanged money this morning and then had the rest of the day free. We didn't want to just sit in our hotel room, so we ventured out. 

First, we went to a nearby shopping center to find a grocery store. It was very interesting, especially the meat counter. 

Next, we headed back to Tian'anmen Square to visit the National Museum of China. The building is huge, just like everything around the square. Inside we wandered through most of the display areas. It is interesting looking at artifacts that are thousands of years old. Even more interesting when you cannot read the description of what they are. Most of the rooms had English under the Chinese writing, but several didn't. We could only guess what we were looking at. Visiting this museum made me realize how amazing our Smithsonian Museums in DC are. 

Tomorrow is our Gotcha Day!  We have to get up early to head out to a series of appointments. One of which we will meet our son!  The closer it gets, the more excited I am.  Less than 24 hours to go.
