Gotcha!
Today is Gotcha Day! We left at 6:30 this morning to head to the orphanage to meet Luke. Traffic was crazy (which is not unusual here) and our driver seemed to get turned around. He stopped several times to ask directions, or at least we think that is what was happening. It is really hard to tell when you can't understand any of the language. We finally made it and were rushed inside where we filled out paperwork and waited for a little while. They finally led in Luke! What a precious moment! He is absolutely adorable. The staff snapped a few quick photos, gave us back everything we sent in his care package, along with some medicine for him. Then, we were off again. We drove for a while to the civil affairs office. While driving I found out the Luke is ticklish and has a great laugh. Then, he fell asleep in my arms on the way, which was so sweet. He has super long eyelashes. We had to stop to have his photo taken. It took a few minutes to find a photo place. We thought it was funny that the shop we ended up at also happened to sell cremation boxes and burial shrouds. (Very interesting) Thankfully we were only there for a few minutes and then we walked to the civil affairs office. More signing, fingerprint seals, and then Luke put his handprint on the needed document. Finally we were done. The appointments didn't take long, but driving did. On the way back to hotel we stopped for some formula and food for Luke. Now we are enjoying our little boy. He has the sweetest smile when we can get it to show. He loves little cars and we are getting glimpses of a silly side. It will be fun seeing his personality come out more as he becomes more comfortable and attaches to us. I must say though, I am smitten!
