Homeschooling Again!

Our new school year started and we are having lots of fun. I am homeschooling again and feel a little more confident with a year under my belt. Don't they look excited to start school? They are the best students, 5th grade, 3rd grade, 1st grade, and preschool.

The mandatory "silly picture" after the "nice picture!"

We are studying ancient world history right now. Not too in depth, but a great introduction. One of the civilizations we have talked about is Egypt. So, we set out to build a pyramid. It just took me some time to think of a good way to build one. I sent them to gather all the pillows and couch cushions they could find in the house. They were master builders and very cheerful workers!CutiePie was the Pharaoh, being buried inside. When they finished everyone took turns being buried in the pyramid and then they rose from the dead in a very explosive manner.

Here is our finished pyramid.
Our workers are showing their strong muscles from moving those huge stones.

Some of the other things we are learning about include frescos (which we made our own miniature ones), how our eyes can trick our mind (lemon jello dyed red - Still smells lemony, but the color really throws you off. We tried this on our neighbors and they said raspberry and Mountain Dew for the smell), and the nine Fruit of the Spirit. (We are working on learning how to show these fruit to our siblings and then to others)

I am excited to see where the rest of the year leads us!

"Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."
Ephesians 6:4

  1. You go girl! They will have great and meaningful memories... all with a different use of pillows. It's fun having a 3rd grader, 1st grader, and preschooler - I'm enjoying this stage!
