Today we had several appointments, and LOTS of waiting. It was long and not so fun. As soon as we got in the car, Luke decided he wanted out. NOW! Not an option, so we drove the twenty minutes to our first appointment with a screaming child. There was another family with us most of the day and the two children were friends from the orphanage. It was fun to see them interact. Still it only helped console our little one a little bit.
The first appointment was at the local Civil Affairs office where we received his adoption certificate. This makes it all official. For the past 48 hours we were technically only his guardians. Not anymore. He is ours!! Such a great feeling!!
Back to the car for a short drive to the notary public office (again a screaming baby). The car was NOT our friend today. Here we were ushered into a room with many people and waited. (Still a crying child, and lots of looks because of said child. Also, every female wants to hold the child to help. Not happening.) Eventually we proofread documents and waited some more. (More crying) Then they finally came back with our documents and more checking. After what felt like an eternity we were done and could leave to go to lunch.
Lunch was delicious and thankfully this boy loves to eat. He finally stopped crying for a while so he could eat. But as soon as we entered the car to drive to the passport office, the crying started again. Thankfully he fell asleep on his baba (daddy) and stayed asleep as we entered the building. The nap was short lived, because we had to wake him up for his passport photo. He was not a happy camper. We did eventually get a photo and the crying ceased. Praise God!
Once back at the hotel room, Luke ran in and started playing immediately. He is now the Happiest little boy in the world with his toys, mama, and baba.
