Travel day! Headed to Guangzhou.

Happy 4th of July!  I am really missing the fun celebrations back home right now.
We had a leisurely morning just eating, playing in our room, and finishing packing. Around 2:30, we had to head to the airport. It took a while because the traffic was all backed up- nothing new in Beijing. We got checked-in no problem, and then arrived at security. That is a whole other story. I think our bags were scanned at the minimum of ten times. We had to take almost everything out of our bags. They wiped their little cloths checking for bomb residue (or whatever that is) on just about everything we owned. They took my medicine, all baby food, among other things. After waiting forever, we finally did get all of our things back and moved on. I was hot and now irritated. I didn't really think we looked suspicious. Wish I could have understood all their talk. I am not looking forward to security on the way home.

Luke liked the airplane, but not his seat belt. It was nice that he had his own seat so he could move around some.  We did not have the friendliest flight crew. Thankfully it was only a three hour flight.

When we arrived in Guangzhou, our guide, Jason, was waiting. He is very helpful and seems high energy. We put our things in the van and went to pick up another family who had also just landed. It was wonderful to get to talk to Americans and compare notes on our trip.

I was so thankful to finally arrive at our hotel. It is beautiful. I finally got a good night's sleep and woke up to a beautiful blue, clear sky. I can actually see far in the distance. So glad to be away from the smog.

Today we head to Luke's medical check-up. It will be tough for him, so please pray.
